The partnership

Jef van Hyfte and Koen Mortelmans had known each other long before they founded Mobile Locker. After several successful collaborations on various marketing projects, they wanted to start their own company together. All they needed was a good idea. Then Jef went on vacation to Spain.

The prototype

Vandal-proof, powered by solar energy, cashless payments, charging your smartphone inside your locker… The prototype of the Mobile Locker was packed with innovative features right from the start. In 2014, the first locker was installed on a beach in Spain, with several local media outlets present. While our software and hardware have continually evolved since then, the distinctive blue-yellow-orange look has remained.

The idea

“If only we had a locker here.” This remark from Jef’s girlfriend on a Spanish beach was the starting point for Mobile Locker in 2012. Jef immediately called Koen, and soon after, the first concrete ideas were already on paper. The common thread? Innovation! The traditional locker market was in dire need of a fresh boost, and Jef and Koen were determined to make it happen.

National and international growth

And then things moved quickly. In 2015, Mobile Locker installed lockers at several Belgian festivals for the first time. Today, we’re present at nearly all major Belgian festivals and several international ones. Mobile Locker has also become the leading reference in the locker market in other sectors, both nationally and internationally.
