S4FE: safely store and charge your e-bike battery
The why
- More and more people travel by e-bike and scooter
- Lithium batteries pose an incredible fire risk
- Most e-bikes fail to comply to technical quality requirements
- A lithium fire cannot be contained using convential fire fighting means

Lithium batteries
Lithium batteries have surrounded us for a number of years. Your phone, laptop, wireless headphones and many other devices in your home contain a lithium battery. The difference with your bike or scooter battery is its capacity, and thus the amount of energy stored. When things go wrong with a battery of this size, things go thoroughly wrong. A fire that immediately goes to 1000°C, and can produce flash fires up to a metre. On top of that, you cannot put out this type of fire with a conventional fire extinguisher.
Many people have these batteries in their homes thanks to the switch to green mobility, which in itself is a good evolution. What is still lacking is knowledge about the risks.

Avoid the danger
S4FE is the only charger on the market for e-bike and scooter batteries that actively to suppresses the danger. With the right sensors, the patented system detects within seconds when a battery catches fire. The entire locker cabinet is immediately locked, emergency services are automatically notified and the extinguishing system kicks in. We guarantee to keep the fire under control for at least 30 minutes, giving the fire brigade more than enough time to arrive. Save your building and the people in it from a lithium fire!

Risks
Lithium batteries pose a huge safety risk, for several reasons.
A solid speedelec battery is around 1,000Wh: the energy stored in it can be compared to the power of 10 hand grenades! When a battery catches fire, not all that energy is released in one go like a grenade, but it does give an idea about the amount of energy stored, and the potential fire hazard.
Tests in 2020 found that only 1 in 12 electric bikes met safety requirements, they looked, among other things, at the technical quality of the batteries.
A battery can be damaged quickly: if it falls or suffers a severe shock, it must be replaced. Internal damage that occurs after such a shock can manifest itself days to weeks later in a severe fire.
A lithium fire is extremely dangerous for several reasons: it immediately goes to temperatures above 1000°C, can produce flash fires of up to a metre and cannot be extinguished by conventional means.
In places where many batteries come together (larger companies, apartment buildings), they are often charged in the wrong conditions, further increasing the risk.
Finally, the knowledge among average Joe’s is still too limited. Many people do not know how to correctly handle a battery of this capacity.
